Simed 2024: A key event for the future of the real estate market in Spain
The latest edition of the Mediterranean Real Estate Show (Simed) has closed its doors after bringing together nearly 7,000 attendees in Malaga. During three intense days, this meeting has established itself as an essential event for the sector, offering more than 9,000 homes distributed in 63 Spanish municipalities.
A fair for professionals and buyers
Simed has been characterized by its mixed approach, attracting both professionals in the sector and individuals interested in purchasing a home. According to data from the organization, around 70% of the attendees were professionals linked to developers, real estate agencies, construction companies, housing portals, and even decoration and interior design companies. Of these, approximately half managed to establish key contacts for their businesses. On the other hand, private buyers came with clear objectives: to find a home or specialized equipment for the home, from home automation systems to solutions for enclosures. This interest reinforces Simed’s role as a space where supply, demand and the latest trends in the sector come together.
Debates and round tables: keys to the future of the sector
The first two days were dedicated to analyzing the main challenges of the real estate market, from public-private collaboration to the promotion of public housing and European investment. Prominent experts, both from the public and private spheres, debated topics such as the long deadlines for obtaining licenses, legal uncertainty or the difficulties in attracting investment in land development.
The event also hosted the II International Meeting on Sheltered, Social and Affordable Housing, in collaboration with Housing Europe and other entities, to address the challenges of social housing in Europe. This block highlighted the need for more housing projects financed by European funds, such as Next Generation EU.
Innovation, sustainability and opportunities in the sector
One of the highlights of Simed was the focus on innovation and sustainability. Through spaces such as “The House of the Future”, attendees were able to learn about the latest technologies applied to housing, designed to optimize processes and improve the customer experience. In parallel, the Public-Private Collaboration Forum highlighted initiatives such as the IMPASS project, which seeks to generate land for affordable housing in Andalusia. Furthermore, the Residential Tourism Opportunities and Trends Forum highlighted Andalusia’s position as a leading destination for second home buyers, highlighting the importance of creating exclusive experiences for these consumers.
Simed as the engine of the Spanish real estate sector
Simed 2024 has proven to be a key platform for launching innovative ideas and creating strategic collaborations. In a context where accessibility to housing and sustainability are priorities, the show has offered a comprehensive vision of the challenges and opportunities of the sector. The commitment to sustainability, technological innovation and collaboration between the public and private sectors positions Simed as a national benchmark in the real estate market, consolidating itself as an essential meeting point to shape the future of the sector.
